Robert "Bob" J. Hayes Jr.

Robert J. Hayes Jr., 66, of Crossville, TN, formerly of Southampton, MA passed away at home on Easter Sunday April 5, 2026, with his loving wife at his side. He was born in Hartford, CT on August 24, 1959, to Shirley (Green) Hayes of Enfield, CT, and to the late Robert J. Hayes Sr. He was educated in Enfield, CT schools, and had various jobs throughout his lifetime, most recently he had worked for Holyoke Medical Center in the Maintenance Department before retiring and moving to Crossville, TN. Bob found immense joy in spending time outdoors, and fishing was among his favorite pastimes. He truly cherished the opportunities to be with his family while fishing, and those moments together became treasured memories. One of Robert’s most beloved experiences was traveling to Grand Lake Stream in eastern Maine. There, he would engage in fly fishing alongside his father, brothers, and sisters. He took pride in tying his own flies, further deepening his connection to the sport and the time spent with loved ones. These trips and shared experiences were among the most special in Bob’s life, reflecting his love for nature and family. Bob was a passionate Red Sox fan, always cheering for his favorite team. He also enjoyed cooking and baking, with a particular fondness for making sweets. Bob is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia (Mocheski) Hayes, who was the love of his life, and Bob made sure to express his affection for her often throughout their marriage. He is also survived by his mother, Shirley (Green) Hayes, of Enfield, CT. Throughout his life, Bob formed close bonds with his stepsons, Dale Malanson, and Craig Malanson along with Craig’s wife, Tracey; they were considered as his own sons, and all reside in Southampton. Additionally, Bob leaves behind his daughter, Jessica Hayes, and his son B.J. Hayes of both of Tampa, FL. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Sarah Molina and her husband Jovannie, Ella Malanson and her partner, Gary Herman, Tricia Malanson all of Southampton, Sully Hayes and Mia Harcrow both of Tampa, FL. His brothers, Jonathan Hayes of N. Carolina, sisters, Kathy Hayes, and Maureen Hayes both of Enfield, CT., also several nieces and nephews. Besides his father Robert Sr., he was also predeceased by his brother Richard Hayes. A Celebration of Life for Bob will be held at a future date, and details regarding the event will be shared once arrangements have been finalized. Family and friends will be invited to gather together to honor Bob’s memory and commemorate his life. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Hospice of Cumberland County. Their dedication and compassion provided Bob with exceptional care and comfort throughout his final days. This support was a source of solace for both Bob and his loved ones, and the family is deeply appreciative for the kindness shown during this difficult time.
