Marion B. Peret

Marion B. Peret, 69, of W. Springfield, formally of Northampton, passed away peacefully December 27, 2022, at Baystate Medical Center with her beloved daughter Priscilla and her family by her side. She was born in Northampton on October 22, 1953, to the late Walter and Maria (Sajdlowski) Peret. She attended Northampton High School from there she graduated from Broms Beauty School. She retired after 42 years at Smith College as a chef and dining room assistant. She also earned many culinary chef certificates during her tenure as a chef. She really enjoyed her profession and enjoyed interacting with the many wonderful students that she formed close and personal relationships with. She also enjoyed preparing specialty foods from the student’s homelands on special occasions. Marion was a kindhearted and devoted mother and had a very special bond with her daughter. She was always, a thoughtful, caring, giving, loving wonderful mother. Priscilla loved her beloved mother so much and is grateful and thankful for such a beautiful loving mother. They loved living together for many years. Cherishing the fun and happy times they had together. They liked cooking together, watching movies, and going for walks. They treasured their day trips shopping and weekend getaways to the ocean. Priscilla will keep these beautiful times close to her heart. She loved the ocean and enjoyed trips to the beach with her daughter & sister Jean. Another memorable time was when she visited Poland with her mother Maria and sister, Helga to meet her relatives for the first time. They travelled to Gdaǹsk and Warsaw and took a train trip through the heartland of Poland. She was an animal lover and enjoyed her many cats for over 50 years, especially Oscar who was injured and had special needs, and because of her loving care he lived a long life of 21 years. Marion was enjoying her retirement years. She enjoyed happy and fun times with her very dear and best friend Diane Delisle of Florence. They enjoyed tag sailing, dancing, eating out, and taking many day trips and vacations together throughout the years. She was also a parishioner of St. Thomas Church and a member of the Senior Center of W. Springfield. She cherished memorable holidays and celebrations throughout the year with her friends, family, and daughter. She had a huge heart, was kind, grateful, thankful, humorous, generous, wonderful, beautiful woman who always gave a helping hand to her friends, family, and daughter. Marion loved her daughter and family very much, she will be sadly missed but will be forever in our hearts. Your friends, family, and especially your daughter Priscilla love you with all their hearts. Marion is survived by her devoted and beloved daughter Priscilla Peret of W. Springfield, her brothers; Walter and wife Judy of Florence, Roman and wife Debra of Westfield, John and wife Sandra of Chicopee, her sister Helga Nielsen and husband Scott of Easthampton, her nephews, Timothy, Kevin, and Michael Peret, Alex and Christopher Nielson, her niece, Jacqueline Peret, and many dear friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister Jean Peret. There will be calling hours on Tuesday January 17, 2023, from 9-10:30 AM at DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME of Northampton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 99 King St., Northampton.
