Brenda Arlene Polito

Brenda Arlene (LaFreniere) Polito, 75, of Easthampton, departed this life on September 22, 2023. She was pre-deceased by her soulmate and beloved husband, John D. Polito Sr., who passed away exactly 24 years to the day before Brenda, and who her loved ones firmly believe escorted Brenda to eternal life in heaven with Jesus. She was born in Northampton on August 23, 1948, to the late Charles and Flora (Callahan) LaFreniere. A graduate of St Michael’s High School, Brenda was employed as a nurse’s aide at Northampton State Hospital, where she worked with her husband John. Brenda was also an administrative assistant at Cernak Buick of Easthampton. Brenda was a devoted mom and “Mimi” who worked hard to attend all her children’s sporting events, many times bouncing from field to field to be sure she could see as much as possible. Her greatest happiness was found spending time with her sons and grandsons, playing Left Right Center, or pretending to enjoy whatever football or baseball game was inevitably on the television, as she basked in the love of the most important thing in her life – her family. Brenda was also a proud and active member of Jubilee Family Outreach Center in West Springfield, MA, and will be dearly missed by her friends, Richard, and Irene Parenteau, and all her church family. Left to bless her memory are Brenda’s three sons: Carl A. Clapp Jr. of Easthampton, John D. Polito Jr (Shelia Byrne) of Palmer, and Thomas J. Polito of Easthampton. She also leaves behind the true lights of her life, her grandchildren, Jered and Jordan Polito of Palmer, and her grand-dog Duke. Brenda also leaves behind her beloved sisters; Eleanor (Gordon) Colby of Greenfield, Nancy (Bill Zagorski) Lafleur of Easthampton, Joyce (Tom) Doherty of Easthampton, and Louise Nault of Easthampton. Brenda also leaves her beloved sisters in law Maryann Cernak of Westfield, and Sherri (Joe) Polito of Easthampton, as well as many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. Besides her parents and her husband John, she was also pre-deceased, by her brother Edward LaFreniere and sisters Jane Bisbee and Dolores Carroll. Calling hours will be on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at the DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME, 120 Damon Rd., Northampton, MA, from 2 – 4PM, followed by a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 4 PM led by Pastors Chuck Wimer and Richard Parenteau.
