Thomas "Tom" Symanski

January 15, 1951 - September 4, 2021

Thomas “Tom” Symanski, 70, of Northampton, passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at Cooley Dickinson Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Northampton on January 15, 1951, to Edward and the late Dorothy (Calkins) Symanski. Tom was a graduate of Smith Vocational High School and a U.S. Army veteran. He had worked for several years as an auto body technician at Cahillane’s Auto body in Northampton before his retirement. Tommy found a passionate love in horse racing and enjoyed great success on the racetrack at the Three County Fair, Saratoga and several other horse tracks all around the country, even owning his own racehorse with friends. He was a lover of nature, particularly time spent outdoors fishing, and boating on the Connecticut river, Tom was an avid Washington Redskins and Red Sox fan and rarely missed a game. You would be hard pressed to find a more decent, honest, and loyal friend, son, brother, and uncle. His passing will leave a hole in our hearts. He is survived by his father, Edward of Hatfield, his brother; Robert and his wife Francine of Springfield, his sister; Mary Ann Symanski of Hatfield, and a "sister" Sandy Magill of Greenfield, nephew Joey Podolak and his wife Pam and great-nephew, Joe, all of Hadley, his aunt, Ann Marie Bukowski of Greenfield, several cousins, and many friends. There will be a calling hour on Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 10 – 11 AM at the DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME of Northampton. A prayer service will begin at 11 AM in Funeral Home, followed by burial with Military honors in Calvary Cemetery, Hatfield. Per order of Northampton Board of Health, face masks are required.
