Judith Joy Clayton, 78, of Westfield, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2022, surrounded by her family at Holyoke Health Care Center. She was born in Northampton on October 12, 1943, to the late George and Eileen (O’Brien) Murch. She had attended Smith Vocational High School and had various jobs throughout her life before meeting the late husband Harold Clayton, they were married for 6 years before they went their separate ways. She soon found love again in Ronald Soles, they remained together as longtime companions for 35 years before his passing. Judy loved cooking, drawing, and experimenting with pastels. She liked to watch old classic movies, WWE and cheering on her favorite team - the Red Sox. She had a fondness for making Halloween costumes and painting all the kids faces. Her favorite holidays included St. Paddy’s Day and of course, Christmas. She always enjoyed going to the 3 County Fair to watch the horse races with friends and family. She always could make people laugh and succeeded on bringing smiles to peoples faces. All the neighborhood kids loved her as well as her family. She knew exactly when to sit and talk with the children to help solve any of their problems. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her son; Bryant Clayton and his wife Sheri of Green Bay, WI, her daughters; Wendi Matt and her husband Rob of Westfield, and Leslye Clayton of Greenfield, her sister; Noreen Beebe of Florence, grandchildren; Kyle Clayton and his wife Jen, Anthony Clayton, Kateri Collins and her husband Tyler, Ayden and Ethyn Clayton, and great-grandson; Liam Clayton, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was pre-deceased by her husband of 6 years Harold Clayton, her soul mate of 35 years, Ronald Soles, her sons Todd and Dana Clayton, and brothers; George and Michael Murch. There will be a calling hour from 10-11 AM on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at the DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME of Northampton, followed by a prayer service at 11 AM. Burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Florence.
