Craig A Holmes Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Craig Holmes, 58, of Greenfield, was born April 7th, 1963, in the Bronx, NY and departed this Earth April 3rd. 2022 to the late Alex Holmes and Flonell (Jackson) Holmes of Holyoke. He also leaves behind his wife Cesaltina Holmes, one and only child, Carolyn Flonell Minnie Holmes and her daughter Naelani Register of Greenfield, his sister Carolyn D. Holmes Baessa and her husband Priest Baessa of Pelham, two brothers: Charlie Holmes of Springfield, sister-in-law Donna Holmes, and Alex Holmes of Holyoke. Two God Brother's; Clarence and Bart McCalvin of Springfield. His favorite Aunt, Marva Wilkins of Springfield, and favorite Uncle, Mayor Earl Jackson of Sparks GA, and his wife Marva Jackson, Aunt Catherine (Holmes) Ingram of Perry, GA, (Husband Hervia Ingram preceded). Nephews Cassius Greenfield, Lavone Reed, and Charlie “CJ” Holmes, nieces Alexis and Camille Holmes, great nephews, Lamotte and Devin, many friends and cousins and God Sons Martin and Marvin. Much love to all Family of Western MA, Sparks and Adel GA, and all abroad, with special consideration to Sheila Mack and her daughter Melody, preceded by her brother Willie. Craig was a proud member of the 82nd airborne following the legacy of his father Alex Holmes of the 101 airborne where he earned his Combat Infantry Badge for his role in The United States invasion of Grenada (1983) where he along with other Special Force Soldiers rescued 1,200 medical students. He Loved America and said, “he would die with his boots on". His favorite scripture was the 91st Psalm which he recited by heart. Craig lived military since he went to Technical High School where he was a part of the Airforce R.O.T.C. where him and his team won a room full of medals including a national championship (1978 - 1981). He loved the thrill and discipline so much he joined the National Guard in High School while awaiting his graduation so he could become a full time solider, he said he wanted to go "all the way and then some". There will be a calling hour from 4-5 PM on Wednesday April 13, 2022, at the DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME, 120 Damon Rd., Northampton, MA. Funeral Service and burial will be Thursday April 14, 2022, at 10 AM, with Military Honors rendered at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
