Richard Adams

Richard Adams, 75, of Easthampton, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday January 31, 2023. He was born in Northampton on February 26, 1947, to the late George and Marion (Starkus) Adams Sr. He attended D.A. Sullivan School and University of Oklahoma where he received a degree in Horticulture. Rich, Richie, Richard, Papi, Dad, whatever name you knew him by, he always treated you with a kind, open, welcoming heart and had a joke ready to make you smile. There was always room for everyone when Richie was around. He loved spending time with his family and friends, whether on the farm giving hayrides, rooting for his favorite teams, or hosting parties, he just enjoyed life. Hanging out at the Elks and shooting pool with his brothers and friends was the highlight of any day. His love for horticulture was evident throughout his life. All seasons of the year, he could be found doing something at the farm - pumpkins and mums, calla lilies for special occasions, strawberries and tomatoes, and Christmas trees were a few family favorites. His knowledge of different species of plants was inspiring to view and that look he would get when talking to you about the new type of tomato or plethora of pumpkins he was going to have that year, would only make you smile. No matter what was going on in his life, he always accentuated the positive and looked at the bright side saying, "Other than that, everything's good." Those of us who knew him will be forever grateful for his positivity and the love that he shared with everyone. He is survived by his loving wife, Brenda Filena of Easthampton; his son Tommy Adams and his wife Nancy of Turners Falls; his daughter, Laurena Mott and her husband Jason of Cumberland, RI; his stepdaughters, Loni Cummings of Easthampton, and Tricia Talley of Erving; eight grandchildren, James and Avery Mott, Michael Henry, Zackary and Ellazondra Martineau, Jack Prondecki, Jade Bowen, and Kiana Cummings; his brothers, Samuel and his wife Karen Mandeville, and Charles of Northampton; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother George Jr. Calling hours will be Wednesday, February 8, 2023, from 3 PM -5 PM at the DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME of Northampton, followed by a prayer service at 5 PM.
