Leslie A. "Les" LaBarge Sr.

Leslie A. “Les” LaBarge Sr., 79, of Hatfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday December 9, 2023, at Charlene Manor in Greenfield. He was born in Northampton to the late Raymond and Marion (Broadhurst) LaBarge on February 8, 1944. Les was a graduate of Northampton High School and had worked for the former Food Mart as a meat cutter supervisor for many years before his retirement. He met his sweetheart Kathy and were soon married on May 22, 1965. They started their family and raised their two sons in Hatfield. Les was active in Little League Baseball, coaching his sons’ teams for many years. He was on the Board of Health in Hatfield and the Hatfield historical society. Les taught his sons how to farm and grow sweet corn. He enjoyed collecting old toys and coins, and frequenting tag sales with his wife Kathy. They treasured their vacations spent at Old Orchard Beach in Maine, but most of all he adored his grandchildren. He loved spending time at the car shows with his grandson, admiring all the old cars and telling David all about them and playing cards, such as war and poker with the apple of his eye, Aryana. He will be deeply missed by them, and his entire family and friends. He is survived by his devoted sons, Leslie Jr. and his wife Yvonne of Hadley, Lyle and his wife Kari, his grandchildren, David, and Aryana LaBarge all of Northampton, his brothers, Larry and Leigh LaBarge, nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Besides his parents, and his sister, Lynn Day, he was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Katherine “Kathy” (Kozlowski) LaBarge, who sadly passed away this past July. Les truly missed her presence every day, his heart was completely broken from her loss. The family would like to thank the Direct Care staff at Charlene Manor for their care and compassion that they showed to Les. Calling hours will be Sunday, December 17, 2023, from 12-2 PM at the DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME, Damon Rd., Northampton. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in the spring.
