Jeanne M. O'Neill

Jeanne M. O’Neill, 51, of Northampton, MA passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 4, 2022. Born in Dorchester, MA and raised in Sudbury, MA, Jeanne was the second of three daughters born to the late Sandra “Sandy” L. (Goland) and John “Jack” J. O’Neill. She attended Josiah Haynes Elementary School, Ephraim Curtis Middle School, and graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School as a member of the class of 1989. From there she received a Bachelor’s Degree in General Studies from Salem State College. Like most suburban children of the 1970’s and 80’s, Jeanne spent warm days running through sprinklers, climbing trees and riding her bicycle with her two sisters and neighborhood pals. Nights were for spotting bats, chasing fireflies and flashlight tag. Cold winter days were spent hoping for a snow day, sledding, building snow forts and drinking hot chocolate. Jeanne loved animals and cared for many dogs, cats, birds and other pets over her lifetime. She had a heart of gold. Jeanne was always willing to help a friend in need, loved her family with all her heart, and never held a grudge. She enjoyed listening to music, reading, watching nature and animal programs on television, as well as reruns of favorite childhood TV shows and movies. She especially liked catching episodes of The Golden Girls and her favorite movie Twister. She had a great sense of humor, and her infectious laugh and wide, warm smile will be forever missed. Jeanne is survived by her two beloved sisters Mary E. (O’Neill) Bush and her husband Rogers of Georgetown, SC and Elizabeth A. O’Neill, her partner Jeff Dame, and their daughter Meg Dame of Natick, MA. She is also survived by her boyfriend Alan Helems of Northampton, MA, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She had strong faith in a higher power, and found comfort in the belief that she was watched over by her parents who sent her signs in the form of dimes (from Jack) and nickels (from Sandy).
