Jane M. Motyka

Jane M. Motyka, 94, of Hatfield, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 22, 2022 at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 13th, 1928, in Northampton to the late Bernie and Kuni (Ahles) Vollinger. She lived in Hatfield and moved to Springfield with her mother at a young age after her father passed away. She married her husband Frank in 1948 and they raised nine children. They moved to Plattsburgh N.Y. In 1954 and then to Hatfield in 1957 where she resided until she passed away. Before she married, Jane worked as an usherette in Springfield and as a switch board operator. Later when her children got older, she worked as an Assistant Housekeeping Manager. Then spent many years as a Smith College Telephone Operator, retiring in 1992. Jane enjoyed feeding and watching the birds in her yard. She also enjoyed traveling, going to the casino, and horse tracks with her husband, and of course scratch tickets. Jane had a beautiful voice and when she was younger loved singing and playing the piano, but most of all she adored raising and spending time with her family. She will be sadly missed by all. Jane is survived by her loving children, daughter Marie of Hatfield and her partner Stash, her sons Frank and wife Donna, Bernard and wife Darla, Martin, Dwight, Jim and Wife Lorrie, Carl, and wife Bonnie all of Hatfield, John and wife Linda of Indian Harbor Beach, FL. She is also survived by her sister Helen Zapka, eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by her husband of sixty-eight years Frank, her son Thomas, daughter-in-law Karla, Martins wife, step siblings Ernie and Irma, and granddaughters Christy and Shannon. The family will receive family and friends Monday, November 28th from 4-6 p.m. at the DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME of Northampton. Funeral services will be Tuesday from the Drozdal Funeral Home of Northampton at 9:00 a.m. with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, School Street, Hatfield. Burial will follow in Main Street Cemetery, Hatfield. Following the burial, a reception will be held at the Hatfield American Legion.
