Diane Marie Szych

Diane Marie Szych, 70, of Hatfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 4th, 2023, at home with family by her side. She was born December 17, 1952, in Northampton to the late John and Irene (Maciorowski) Szych. She attended Hatfield schools before getting her LPN license from the post graduate course at Smith Vocational. She began her career as a nurse manager at Cozy Corner Nursing Home in Sunderland, then worked at Farren Memorial Hospital. Diane also worked at Hampshire County Nursing Home as an evening supervisor for many years until retiring in 2020 from Highview of Northampton. Diane was full of life, loved spending time with her granddaughters and great granddaughter. She loved to travel and go shopping with her sister Linda and good friend Sofia Price. Diane enjoyed having a cup of coffee with good friends and family that would visit. She also loved her chickens, 2 cats (Big Kitty and Macaroni), and puppy (Noodles). Besides her parents, Diane was predeceased by her son Jonathan. She is survived by her granddaughters Alexandra and Amelia Rybinski of Hatfield; her great granddaughter Savannah Harris; her sister Linda Cook and partner Donnie Tower, brother Michael Szych and wife Lydia all of Hatfield; her nieces Jennifer Cook Johnson and husband Travis of Northampton, Kate Cook of Amherst, Elizabeth Cook (John Dowling) of Somerville, Lisa Szych of Springfield, and nephew Michael Szych, Jr. of Hatfield; daughter Sarah Szych of Toronto, Canada. She also leaves many extended family members and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Cooley Dickinson VNA and Hospice for the attention and comfort they provided. Her burial and committal service will be Saturday May 18, 2024, at 10 AM in Calvary Cemetery, Hatfield. DROZDAL FUNERAL HOME of Northampton has been entrusted with her services.
